My Niece was married last Saturday. She has been a best friend and advisor to me all my life. It is as if she has been the voice of reason, no matter what her age. She would often rattle out phrases of wisdom even when a tot.
When I needed a transplant, she stepped forward to offer her kidney to me. We weren't the same blood type, but this gesture of love brought and still brings, tears to my eyes.
She continually gives me hope..
Now, she is entering a new chapter in her life. She wants children, and I know she will be a spectacular mother.
I love you, Erin..

I saw "Superman Returns" last night. We sat with a jerk in front of us, who continually looked at his cell phone and behind us a father feeding his children popcorn by hand (not unlike a mother bird...). Despite all the above listed "entertainment", I did concentrate, as best I could, on the movie.
I do have some questions about this movie. If you have any answers, please comment..
1. Why, oh why, does Superman's face look so cartoonish? Especially during close-ups, it is as if his face was airbrushed, or digital manipulation went a little too far.
2. Why didn't someone comb that little kid's hair??
3. Why such a Savior-fixated Superman?
4. Why was this movie so violent? If you were afraid to fly, this movie comfirms your fears. When the streets of Metropolis crumble and roll, and the high rises topple, you think of 9/11.
I would think twice before bringing my children to this movie. Some scenes (for me, anyway) were hard to watch.
The new Superman (Brandon Routh) sounds alike like Christopher Reeve. Maybe that was digitial manipulation also. Makes you wonder what is real anymore.
This movie does leave itself open to a sequal.
Besides,I do want to see Kevin Spacey again. Love the Wigs, Kev!!!
Well, I danced several dances at hubby's 62nd birthday party. No chicken dance. Just many, many polkas. My left hip hurts, and continues to hurt one week later. I am hoping for the best, since my niece's wedding is next Saturday, and I want to dance again!
And I cut my toenails too short this morning. And my left ankle hurts, which is a sign of rain to come.
So between all the self imposed pain and the natural weather forecast predictions of my ankle, and I am in great shape.
However, I am continuing to enjoy the upcoming summer events that we have planned. This includes many concert events, and some mini trips for me and hubby.
Pain be damned....
We had a lovely time in Aruba. Dined and read four books. Did nothing, which was absolutely wonderful. There were no Aruban tourist trap trips to make, no times to be anywhere special. A true vacaton.
I think I finally saw my hubby relax. The weather was great, and I did well by not comming back with a tan. My skin just couldn't take all that baking..
This week is preparation for my hubby's 62nd birthday bash. We are inviting 55 people, and there will be a band (playing polka music-insert laugh here..). I am going to have a great time.
Two weeks after that is my niece's wedding! (no polka music-insert sigh of gratitude here..)
So there are alot of good things to look forward to. Of course, there is the eye doctor for me, dexascan tests for me, blood work for me, and nephrologist visit for me-all before the wedding.
Feeling healthy and determined to enjoy all the good stuff coming my way!
By the way, I missed you guys......
