Back in NJ..

I'm back from my trip to Florida. It was a pleasant trip and I had a great time with my friend. Her home is absolutely beautiful, and the weather was great.
I managed to read a book while there: "The Know It All" by AJ Jacobs.
It is about the author's attempt to read the whole Encyclopaedia Britannica. It is full of fun facts, and I highly recommend it.
While in Florida we took a trip to the Everglades. They are actually building condos there. I guess nothing is sacred anymore.
I held a 3 year old alligator. Alligators have two eyelids like a cat. They also can swim only in a straight line, so if you are ever fleeing one, do so at several angles. If you measure the distance between the eyes and the snout of an alligator, change the inches to feet, and you will have determined an approximate length of the alligator.
The above facts are not from the book I read, but from Captain Bob who took us on the Everglades trip.
Now it is back to joint pain in NJ as it is raining and cold here today.....

It is now time for the Sunblock...

I'm heading off to FLA tomorrow. Yep, this time I do think I will go.
Hubby is to meet me there after the Presidential Debate. He has been to all three debates-I suspect he will have some good stories to tell. I will keep you all informed of what they are. That is of course if I can keep my husband awake so he can tell me. The travelling has caused him many sleepless nights, and now he has a cold.
So I hope he will have a chance to be in the sun--or at least fall asleep under an umbrella by the pool.
I finally had a flu shot today. A local supermarket was offering the shots. The time frame was supposed to be from 1-7pm. I arrived at 11am, and was #113. By 11:30am, the last number was given away (#180). No more shots were available. Many people were turned away-all were senior citizens. This is ashame that this had to happen.
I do hope that some vaccine is found in time to let more seniors and those with certain medical conditions to get their medicine before the flu season sets in. This winter is supposed to be quite bad...

"Hold It, I Think You're Gonna Like This Picture!"**

I just love Animal Photography. Just look at this photo!:

birdy.jpg

I've read an article about a women photographer who takes wild animal portraits. Her photos are amazing, especially of the primates. There is one primate photo that I can't seem to get out of my head.
I want to purchase this book, but cannot find it. I have looked on Amazon dotcom, and the NYTimes Book Reviews, but to no avail.
Does anyone recall reading about her, or seeing her on tv? I'm told that she was on tv recently.

** This quote is from the "Love That Bob" tv show of the '50s-'60s. It starred Bob Cummings as a model's photographer. Rosemary De Camp played his sister, and "Shultzee" was played by Ann B. Davis (who also starred as "Alice" in the "Brady Bunch"-I can remember stuff from 40+ years ago, yet can't remember what I've read a week ago!!!)
